The lower leg and foot from the side, with the calf muscles, the Achilles tendon and the long tendons running down to the toes. Drawn by N. H. Jacob for J.-M. Bourgery’s Traité complet de l’anatomie de l’homme, Paris, 1831–1854.
The print
Heavy ring-spun cotton, 207 g/m², dyed after sewing, so it comes soft and a little lived-in. Printed small on the chest, about 8 × 13 cm, in sepia ink on light colours and bone ink on dark ones, captioned THE MUSCLES OF THE LEG in capitals, with its French name, Muscles de la jambe.
